Mr. Rodney C Van Houten

Principal Lawyer

Rod has significant investigative experience having worked as a Police officer. He is the founding principal of Van Houten law which was established in 1993. The practice concentrated on Family Law, Criminal Law and Succession. Rod was accredited as a criminal law specialist in 2005 by the Law Society of NSW and worked on the Law Society of NSW Specialist Accreditation Committee for Criminal Law, assessing other lawyers who were sitting for accreditation.  With over 30 years of experience in  Family Law and Criminal Law, and accreditation as a family dispute mediator it is important that if you are seeking an experienced practitioner you call Van Houten Law. Over the past 30 years Rod has forensic accounting investigative experience looking for hidden or undisclosed assets both in Australia and overseas and this is often the case in Family Law.

Criminal law issues often have a significant impact on family law matters, especially when children are involved. Allegations of criminal conduct, such as domestic violence (including coercive control) and substance or alcohol abuse, frequently arise in family disputes. These issues can affect parents' rights to custody, visitation, and other parenting matters. Additionally, they can influence decisions regarding the division of property interests between the parties.
